Jill Lekovic, M.D., is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago with Honors and went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Lekovic completed her residency training in Pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospitals.
Dr. Lekovic spent the first five years of her professional life working in a busy general pediatrics practice. She spent much of her time educating parents on many topics involving early childhood care and development, with a special passion for breastfeeding, diet and toilet training.
After that, she entered Academic Pediatrics and was a Faculty member at a Pediatrics residency program for three years. She taught and supervised Pediatrics residents in the nursery, hospital and clinic. Her responsibilities included both research and lecturing.
Over the years, she developed an interest in toilet training. She spent over five years as a professor of pediatrics researching the medical, psychological, sociological and anthropological literature about toilet training from all over the world, with the help of many wonderful people.
She wrote a best-selling book about toilet training published by Random House. Diaper-Free Before 3 is a practical guide for parents who want some perspective and knowledge about toilet training that isn’t available anywhere else.
The success of the book put Dr. Lekovic in touch with experts from many different backgrounds. Among the most influential have been Pediatric Urologists and Gastroenterologists from all over the world with special interests and research into toilet training. Another great resource for a balanced knowledge base has been Infant Toilet Training proponents, many of whom are experts on natural toilet training as well as cross-cultural methods. Many useful and time-tested practices come from Montessori advocates who carry out toilet training children in group settings worldwide.
Along the way, Jill and her husband Gregory were lucky enough to have four great children. The Lekovics moved to Los Angeles in 2008.
